A little French cuisine inspo? Oui!

Our friend Justine Schofield loves cooking - and eating - French food. Justine comes from a family of passionate French cooks and was taught how to cook some of her favourite dishes by her French mother and grandmother.

On her many visits to France, Justine explored her heritage and picked up some incredible knowledge and tips on French cuisine.

One of her favourite dishes to cook is crêpes. Really, you can't get more French than that! Below Justine shares her delicious recipe for crepes with caramel apples. It's the perfect recipe to make on Pancake Day, Tuesday 28th February.

When you're cooking crêpes or pancakes, you're going to need the right pan. And there's none more French - or more perfect - than the Tefal Pleasure GV5. Made in France (naturally), this 25cm red pancake pan features Tefal's famous Thermo-Spot heat indicator to tell you when it's pre-heated to the right temperature. And the fact that it's non-stick helps to make flipping those crêpes even easier!

Justine's crêpes with caramel apples

Serves: 4

Rating: 5/5

4 eggs
200g flour
250 ml milk
60g caster sugar + 70g sugar
50g butter, melted
2 green apples
Lemon zest
1 pinch cinnamon

Sift the flour. Make a well in the middle and break eggs. Mix until combined and gradually add the milk, sugar, melted butter, lemon zest and cinnamon. Mix well to make sure there are no lumps.

Set aside.

In another pan add the remaining sugar and melt to make a caramel. Add peeled and quartered apples and cook for 10 minutes or until soft.

To make crepes, heat a pan and add oil, pour in a ladle full of crepe mix and spread around pan. Cook for 1 minute on each side.

To serve, fold crepes in quarters and spoon over some caramel apples. Add ice cream if you like!

Justine's top tips for the perfect crepe!

  1. Rest your batter overnight in the fridge
  2. Invest in a good quality #crepe pan
  3. Get the crepes as thin as possible by swirling the batter all the way to the edges
